Romolo Del Deo

Romolo Del Deo b.1959 Provincetown, MA, first studied with his father, painter Salvatore Del Deo. At 18 Romolo apprenticed stone sculpture in Pietrasanta, Italy and, at the Academy of Fine Arts, Florence. In 1982 he earned a BA at Harvard University where he went on to serve on the faculty and as Artist-in-Residence. Awards include: Harvard University President’s Award, Henry Moore Foundation, NY Foundation for the Arts, Sugarman Foundation, Gottlieb Foundation. Romolo was recently awarded the Lorenzo De Medici Gold Medal for Sculpture from the Biennale X of Florence, Italy, and was the artist ambassador for the United States at the G7 in Italy in 2017. He has exhibited widely in the United States and Europe and is represented locally in Provincetown by Berta Walker Gallery.
